How to synthesize sophisticated R&B: Jazz chord extensions (9ths, 11ths), unquantized D'Angelo drums, and warm vocal ad-libs.
#1 The Harmonic Sophistication of Neo-Soul
Neo-soul fuses contemporary R&B with 1970s jazz harmony. The music avoids simple triads, relying instead on lush Major 7th, Minor 9th, and suspended chord voicings.
#2 The Neo-Soul Prompt Blueprint
'Sophisticated neo-soul groove, warm Fender Rhodes electric piano with extended Major 7th and Minor 9th chord voicings, laidback unquantized acoustic drum swing, warm velvety female vocal harmonies, 82 BPM, soulful D'Angelo aesthetic.'
#3 Smooth Legato Articulation
Always select 'Smooth Harmonic (Legato)' articulation in Musivo to ensure vocal runs and ad-libs glide effortlessly over jazz chords.
Studio Production Key Takeaway
"Requesting 'extended Major 7th and Minor 9th chords' instantly elevates R&B tracks with rich jazz harmony."
